Detroit left eleven men on base and lost by two. The sixth inning is where it turned — Yohandy Morales hit a slider 422 feet at 107.1 mph off the bat, a no-doubter to right center that scored two and gave Washington a lead they kept. CJ Abrams had already broken the seal with a line single to right on a 1-2 curveball, getting thrown out stretching but leaving the run in. Brad Lord gave Detroit one hit across 3.1 innings and struck out three, and Will Dion followed with four strikeouts over two frames. Ben Malgeri's home run in the sixth and his single in the ninth were the only answers. Detroit had eight hits and stranded eleven.
