King threw 97 pitches across seven innings and the Cubs managed one hit off him — a start that will carry weight through this October if San Diego keeps advancing. Tatis and Machado both homered in the first on changeups, and by the time Machado doubled in the third to make it 3-0, the game had the shape it would keep all afternoon. Boyd gave up four earned in four innings, Assad allowed three more in two-thirds of an inning, and Chicago did not score.
