Cedric Mullins hit his first home run of the year in the second inning — a two-run line drive to right field on an 83.4 mph changeup. It put Tampa Bay ahead 3-2 after Nico Hoerner's two-run single had briefly given Chicago the lead. Shane McClanahan walked four and struck out five in four innings, and the only hit he allowed was Hoerner's single. Jonathan Aranda's two-run homer in the seventh — his third of the season — broke a 4-3 tie and held up. Matt Shaw added a solo shot in the ninth. Jameson Taillon took the loss: six innings, seven hits, four runs, three earned. Kevin Kelly, Ian Seymour, Hunter Bigge, and Bryan Baker covered the last five innings for Tampa Bay and allowed one run.
