Mark Leiter Jr. faced seven hitters in the eighth, gave up five hits and four runs, and recorded two outs. Amed Rosario's second home run of the night — a three-run shot to left — was the blow, and it turned a 3-1 Athletics lead into a 5-3 Yankees lead. Rosario's first homer, a solo shot in the second, had tied the game at 1, and Nick Kurtz's double in the third left the bat at 115.1 mph, the hardest contact of the game, driving in two. Aaron Civale gave the Athletics five innings of one-run ball, Cam Schlittler gave the Yankees five innings and three runs, and David Bednar threw 14 pitches in the ninth to end it.
