Shohei Ohtani allowed one run in six innings and it was unearned, and the Dodgers lost anyway. Jack Dreyer faced three hitters in the seventh and gave up two runs on three hits, and Ben Casparius took the loss in the eighth when Toronto pushed across the run that held. George Springer's double in the seventh, on a sharp fly ball that Kyle Tucker could not run down, tied the game at a moment when the Dodgers' bullpen was already leaking. Jeff Hoffman struck out two in the ninth for the save, and the 11 runners Los Angeles left on base never made it home.
