Ronald Acuña Jr. threw Javier Sanoja out at home in the second — right field to shortstop to catcher — and Miami held a lead from the first inning until the eighth. Pete Fairbanks came in to protect a two-run lead and gave up three runs on three hits. Robert Suarez got the win despite allowing a run in the top of the inning, and Raisel Iglesias needed ten pitches for the save. Otto Lopez's RBI single in the eighth was the last run Miami scored.
