Three hits was all Tampa Bay could manage against Bubba Chandler in six innings, and the separation came from Oneil Cruz in the sixth — a two-run homer to right center, his sixth of the year, on an 88.4 mph sweeper. Spencer Horwitz's double in the second, his second of the season, had given Tampa Bay their only run, and it lasted four innings before Junior Caminero tied it and Cruz put Pittsburgh ahead. Brandon Lowe's two-run double in the eighth, measured at 105.7 mph, settled it. Nick Martinez gave up eight hits in five and a third and took the loss. Tampa Bay left six on base and did not score after the second.
