Manny Machado hit two home runs and drove in five, and it still was not the biggest swing. Tim Tawa's grand slam in the seventh — four RBI on one swing — put Arizona ahead for good. David Morgan gave up four earned without recording an out, Ron Marinaccio surrendered four more in a third of an inning, and Bradgley Rodriguez took the loss with two earned. Michael King had given San Diego six innings of two-run ball before the bullpen entered.
