Kansas City led 2-0 after one inning on back-to-back home runs from Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez, and Erick Fedde held that lead until the fifth. Drew Romo homered to start the inning, Miguel Vargas singled in a run, and Chase Meidroth hit a three-run shot that put Chicago ahead 5-2. The Royals tied it in the sixth on Nick Loftin's two-run double and Maikel Garcia's RBI single. Derek Hill's eighth-inning homer off Matt Strahm — one run on one pitch — was the final margin. Jac Caglianone hit two balls at 114.5 and 108.6 mph off the bat. Both were lineouts.
