Andujar turned on a 92 mph splitter at 2-2 in the first, and nobody scored again. What followed was seven innings from King against seven from Yamamoto, and the difference between them was one swing — Yamamoto threw 107 pitches, struck out eight, gave up three hits, and took the loss. King struck out nine over his seven and kept the Dodgers from ever matching what Andujar did to that splitter. Mason Miller walked two in the ninth on 22 pitches and still did not give up a hit, which is the kind of line that looks clean on the card and felt nothing like clean. The Dodgers left seven on base across nine innings and never produced the hit that answers a home run.
