The Athletics scored six in the third inning and kept going. Nick Kurtz drove in three — a single on an 86 mph slider in the third, another single in the sixth — and Colby Thomas's two-run double followed by Zack Gelof's two-run single made it a rout. Reid Detmers took the loss with eight earned in 5.2 innings, his eight strikeouts undone. Mike Trout homered to center in the third and walked in a run in the fourth, and Jack Perkins covered two clean innings in relief.
