Freeman's first homer — two runs on a 96.1 mph fastball in the first — answered Manny Machado's two-run shot from the top of the inning, and his solo drive to right-center in the sixth tied it at four. Miguel Andujar's two-run homer in the third had been the difference until then. Mason Miller took the loss without giving up an earned run: a walk, then Andy Pages's sacrifice fly to right that scored Alex Call and held up under a Padres challenge. Will Klein closed it on 10 pitches.
