Spencer Torkelson's first-inning double scored Kevin McGonigle, and that single run held up through six innings while Keider Montero threw 65 pitches — 46 for strikes — and allowed two hits without a walk. Drew Anderson came out for the seventh and gave up Colson Montgomery's fifteenth home run on a 3-2 changeup, then Tristan Peters singled home Chase Meidroth, and that was the ballgame. Montero struck out four and walked nobody across six innings, and left with a lead that did not survive the next frame. Detroit managed four hits and left six on base, and Tyler Davis needed six pitches to end it.
