Three home runs left the yard in the third — Dingler, Carpenter, Greene — and Dingler went deep again in the fifth, building a lead that should have held. Brenan Hanifee threw 13 pitches and did not record an out, and in the eighth Beau Brieske needed 25 pitches to retire one hitter, walking three and giving up three runs while Tampa scored four and climbed within a run. Hao-Yu Lee's second home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth, is the kind of run that disappears inside a 10-9 final until you need it. Will Vest threw 40 pitches to cover the last five outs.
