Joe Mack's first home run of the season opened the fifth — a two-run shot on the first pitch he saw — and Heriberto Hernández and Otto Lopez followed with home runs of their own, three in one inning, six earned off Miles Mikolas. Heriberto Hernández added a second home run in the ninth. Lake Bachar threw 2.2 hitless innings and John King followed with 1.2 more without allowing a baserunner. Washington pushed across three runs in the sixth and seventh combined and never got closer than four. Joe Mack laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Liam Hicks in the ninth.
