Aramis Garcia went two months without a home run, then hit his first of the season in the third — a solo shot to left center that made it 5-1. Luis García Jr. had already put Washington ahead with a two-run homer in the first and would add a grand slam in the sixth, his seventh of the year. Merrill Kelly gave up 7 earned in 5 innings on 85 pitches, and the four Arizona relievers who followed allowed 7 more. Garcia also won an ABS challenge in the first that overturned a call on James Wood's at-bat, and Wood scored two batters later on García's home run.
