Eovaldi threw 63 strikes among his 94 pitches across seven innings, and the only real trouble he found was Contreras — who homered in the second and again in the sixth, Nos. 15 and 16. Texas already had what Higashioka's three-run shot to left center built in the second, a ball that left on an 83.1 mph changeup. Early surrendered 11 hits in 4.2 innings and never got the game back. Boston pulled within two on Abreu's RBI single in the eighth, but Jacob Latz covered the last 1.1 innings without allowing a baserunner, striking out two. Contreras drove in two of Boston's four runs. The other eight hitters in that lineup combined for one extra-base hit.
