Cleveland scored three in the seventh to go ahead, then two more in the ninth to tie it. Both times, the White Sox answered. Anthony Kay gave Chicago six innings of three-hit, eight-strikeout ball and left with a 2-1 lead that Grant Taylor could not hold. Seranthony Domínguez gave up two in the ninth. Chris Murphy got the last two outs, and Sam Antonacci singled home Braden Montgomery to end it. Travis Bazzana scored twice and the Guardians still lost. Four White Sox relievers covered the last three innings, and only the last one did not allow a run.
