Willson Contreras hit his seventeenth home run at 111.9 mph off the bat — 418 feet to left field on an 83.6 mph sweeper in the third — and by then Boston already had four runs. Payton Tolle needed only 88 pitches to get through seven: one hit, two walks, seven strikeouts. Tsung-Che Cheng got his first double of the season. The Yankees did not score until the eighth, when Austin Wells grounded into a forceout. Will Warren started for New York, threw 90 pitches in 5.2 innings, and struck out nobody.
