Robbie Ray threw eight innings, allowed four hits, and gave up one unearned run on 95 pitches. Chris Sale struck out ten over six innings, gave up eight hits, and took the loss. The Giants tied it in the sixth when Jung Hoo Lee's single to second became a run on Ozzie Albies's throwing error, and took the lead in the seventh on Luis Arraez's sacrifice fly to right. Austin Riley's ninth-inning groundout scored Matt Olson to make it 3-2, but Caleb Kilian got the last three outs despite giving up two hits. Sale struck out ten and lost. Ray struck out two and won.
