Walker Buehler walked five and gave up two hits across 5.2 innings, and the Padres still led when he handed the ball over. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a home run that left the bat at 111.0 mph and traveled 474 feet, and Manny Machado went deep twice — Nos. 21 and 22 — in consecutive innings. Reynaldo López threw 85 pitches in 4.1 and the nine hits he allowed included Jim Jarvis's first triple of the year, a two-run fly that briefly put Atlanta ahead. Tatis capped it with a two-run homer in the eighth. The Padres had thirteen hits and eight runs; the Braves had four.
