The score sat at 2-2 from the fifth inning on, and Yordan Alvarez — who had homered in the first — singled to center in the ninth to score Nick Allen and end it. Christian Walker's solo homer in the fourth had tied it for Houston, and Jorge Soler's RBI double in the fifth had tied it for Los Angeles, and both bullpens worked three clean innings after that. Josh Hader threw four pitches, all strikes, to close it. Peter Lambert struck out six in five innings and Reid Detmers struck out nine in five, and neither starter figured in the decision.
