Leo Jiménez was hit by a 91.6 mph sinker with the bases loaded in the third, and Joe Mack followed with a walk that forced in another. Carmen Mlodzinski threw 59 pitches in 2.1 innings — three walks, five hits, four runs — and the Marlins never trailed again. Janson Junk gave Miami six innings of two-run, one-earned ball on 81 pitches, and the Pirates could not put together a rally. Heriberto Hernández's two-run shot to left center in the sixth, his 17th of the year, was the last scoring either side needed. Pittsburgh managed six hits and left five on base.
