Griffin Jax threw 63 pitches in 2.2 innings and gave up six runs — three earned — on seven hits, and the Rays were already behind when he left. Nick Morabito's first double of the season, a line drive to left with the bases loaded in the seventh, cleared them and was the swing that ended whatever remained. Brett Baty's three-run double in the third, a 106.1 mph line drive to left, had given New York its first cushion. Juan Soto's 111.8 mph homer in the eighth landed 383 feet to right and added to a lead that was already beyond reach.
