Zero earned runs across six innings — Yusei Kikuchi threw 89 pitches, gave up five hits, and struck out six, and the lineup behind him had the lead by the fifth. Josh Lowe's homer, his eleventh, and Zach Neto's RBI single built it, and Mike Trout's RBI single in the seventh stretched it. Braxton Ashcraft struck out nine in five innings and still took the loss, and his offense scored once. Wade Meckler's two-run double in the seventh put it out of reach, and Bryan Reynolds' sixteenth homer in the eighth was the only answer.
