Leo Bernal's three-run homer in the 3rd — only the second of his season — gave St. Louis a lead that looked safe with Andre Pallante on the mound. Pallante went five innings of one-run ball. Then the 8th happened. Cade Winquest gave up four runs, George Soriano handed over two more, and the Giants sent nine men to the plate. Jung Hoo Lee's two-run double tied it. Shay Whitcomb's double won it. Three San Francisco errors and the Cardinals still couldn't hold the lead.
