Eduardo Rodriguez threw 103 pitches in 5.1 innings and walked four — seven earned runs on five hits, and the Yankees had a lead before Rodriguez recorded his second out. Lombard's two-run single in the first came on a 90.4 mph cutter, and his fourth home run of the year went to left field in the sixth. Ben Rice's thirty-ninth left the yard in the third, and Gerrit Cole gave six innings of two-run ball with six strikeouts and no walks on 62 of 90 pitches for strikes. Four home runs on the season for Lombard now, three RBI tonight — his two-run single in the first and his solo shot in the sixth bookending a night where the Yankees scored nine and needed almost none of them.
