The only run Pittsburgh could muster came off Brandon Lowe's bat in the second — his thirty-fourth, 108.4 off the bat, 434 feet to right center. Matthew Liberatore went five and two-thirds, gave up six hits, struck out six, and walked nobody. The Cardinals answered in the third: Alec Burleson lined a single to center, Leo Bernal grounded one through the right side, and Masyn Winn's double plus JJ Wetherholt's single in the fourth made it 5-1. Brandon Eisert took the loss without finishing the inning — two hits, three runs, eighteen pitches. St. Louis got ten hits and left seven. Pittsburgh got six and left five. Four relievers covered the last three and a third for the Cardinals, and none of them allowed a hit.
