Washington held a 1-0 lead through six, and then A.J. Ewing's three-run homer in the seventh — on an 0-2 curveball at 76.6 mph — put New York ahead. Ronny Mauricio followed with his second homer of the season in the same inning, then his third in the ninth. Jonah Tong struck out nine in five innings and left trailing, and Washington's three hits produced one run on a third-inning sacrifice fly.
