Michael Wacha and Reynaldo López both threw six shutout innings — Wacha struck out seven, López struck out three — and the game was scoreless when the pens took over. Salvador Perez broke it with his first homer of the year in the seventh, a solo shot to left center. Then Estévez came in for the ninth, threw 27 pitches, and faced seven men. Mike Yastrzemski and Michael Harris II each singled in a run, and Dominic Smith's grand slam — his first of the year, on a 3-2 fastball at 92.3 mph — emptied what was left. Six earned, one-third of an inning.
