Jesse Scholtens gave the Rays five innings of one-hit baseball, struck out three, and left with a 3-0 lead. Junior Caminero's home run on an 0-0 knuckle curve at 77.6 mph opened the scoring in the third, and Jonny DeLuca's three-run homer in the seventh — his second of the year — made it 8-0. Jake Fraley's first home run of the season came in the sixth, a solo shot on a 91.8 mph fastball. Ian Seymour gave up three runs in the ninth, but by then the Rays had scored eight and the White Sox had not scored through eight.
