Christian Walker's first-inning single on a 2-2 changeup gave Houston a lead it never gave back, but Brice Matthews's three-run homer in the fourth — a 92.9 mph fastball sent to center — is what turned a close game into a comfortable one. Walker added his eighth home run an inning later on an 0-2 sweeper lined to left, giving him three RBIs on the night. Spencer Arrighetti walked five in five innings and still got the win, which says everything about what Boston did with those free baserunners. Connelly Early allowed five earned in four innings and took the loss. Bryan King needed six pitches to close it out, and the Red Sox left 10 on base.
