Seth Lugo gave up five earned in five innings. Noah Schultz walked five batters in 4.1 innings but surrendered only three runs. The White Sox led from the second inning on. Jarred Kelenic's two-run double in the fifth — his first of the season — stretched the lead, though Seranthony Domínguez made it interesting by giving up two runs in the ninth. Bobby Witt Jr.'s two-run homer in the ninth brought Kansas City within one. The Royals left seven on base and made two errors, one of which — Drew Romo reaching on Vinnie Pasquantino's misplay — scored a run.
