The gap between the two starters was seven earned runs, and the game was over by the fifth. Austin Riley's three-run home run in the first came on an 87.7 mph cutter, and Brayan Bello did not survive past it — eight hits, seven earned, three walks, 98 pitches to record 15 outs. Grant Holmes answered with six scoreless of his own, four strikeouts on 87 pitches, and the Red Sox put nine hits on the board and scored once. Mike Yastrzemski's second home run of the year was the only damage Boston did against him, and it came in the fourth. Nine men left on base for a team that scored once on nine hits.
