Nine strikeouts, no walks, seven innings, 100 pitches — Sánchez did not allow a run, and the Padres put seven hits on the board without crossing home. Ramón Laureano's 109.7 mph double was the hardest ball of the night and it stayed at second, which is as clean a summary of San Diego's evening as the line offers. Kyle Schwarber's ground-ball single to right in the sixth broke a scoreless tie, and Trea Turner added a solo home run in the ninth on a 94.1 mph fastball. Walker Buehler matched Sánchez for five innings and gave up two earned in 5.1, but the Padres' seven hits produced nothing.
