The diamond fills teal when the run scores; the out lands in the box of the runner it was made on. Names link to their pages at www.feverbaseball.com. New to the marks? The primer scores a full inning from scratch. Every pitch under these marks is typed, clocked and located off the same official feed. A hand-scorer could record what happened; nobody could record the pitch that did it.

Lucas Giolito needed 77 pitches to record eight outs, and the Nationals spent the night climbing out of the hole. They got there — Jacob Young's single in the fifth put Washington ahead — but Mitchell Parker gave it back in the seventh, and the San Diego bullpen allowed no runs the rest of the way. Mason Miller walked two in 1.1 innings and still closed it, 30 pitches for four outs. Luis García Jr. hit the hardest ball of the game at 108.9 mph, and it became the third out of the eighth.
