The Yankees left ten men on base and scored three of their four runs on ninth-inning walks. Shea Langeliers had already hit a 96.8 mph fastball 426 feet to center in the first, and the Athletics did not trail after that. J.T. Ginn gave them six innings of one unearned run on four hits. Tyler Soderstrom and Nick Kurtz added home runs. Jack Perkins threw 24 pitches for two outs in the ninth and Scott Barlow walked three in a third of an inning. The save still landed.
