Ben Rice started the third with a two-run double, Aaron Judge singled in a run, and by the time Max Schuemann doubled home two more, Jacob Lopez's afternoon was over at 56 pitches through two innings. Will Warren gave the Yankees six innings, struck out five, and allowed three unearned runs while the Athletics' relievers — Jack Perkins, Luis Medina, José Suarez — threw five and a third hitless innings. Trent Grisham's two-run single and Anthony Volpe's RBI single were part of an eight-run frame that decided it, and the Yankees left two men on base all night.
