deGrom gave Texas six innings and left with the score tied, and the seventh inning is where the night turned. Cole Winn gave up two runs in two-thirds of an inning, and the blow was Ceddanne Rafaela's two-run single on a line drive to left that scored Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Carlos Narváez. The Rangers left 10 on base, and when Jake Burger's 421-foot home run in the eighth — 107.3 mph off the bat — cut the deficit to one, Jarren Duran answered two batters later with a two-run homer of his own. deGrom threw 90 pitches, struck out five, and did not walk a batter, and none of it was enough to survive the seventh.
