Blaze Jordan's first double of the season scored Lars Nootbaar in the second, and Nathan Church followed with a single to give St. Louis a lead it never surrendered. The Cardinals left twelve on base and still walked away winners, because Pallante gave up two runs over seven innings on 92 pitches. Jackson Merrill's sixth-inning double pulled San Diego within one, but Riley O'Brien needed thirteen pitches to close it.
