Ty France's ninth home run came in the third and his sacrifice fly came in the fourth, and by the time the Braves scored they were already behind. Martín Pérez walked four in four innings on eighty-two pitches and left trailing 2-0. The sixth inning is where Atlanta's last chance ended — Joey Bart's two-run homer had briefly tied it, and Samad Taylor's two-run single put the Padres back ahead. JP Sears allowed two earned in five and two-thirds and three relievers allowed nothing, while Atlanta left seven on base and did not score after the sixth.
