The White Sox scored eleven runs in the third inning alone. Mitch Spence faced fifteen hitters, recorded four outs, and was charged with ten earned runs on eight hits and three walks. By the time the inning ended, Miguel Vargas had homered and doubled, Jacob Gonzalez had hit his second home run of the season, and Tristan Peters had driven in two on a single. Peters added a grand slam in the sixth — four more RBIs, giving him six on the night. Kyle Teel hit his first home run of the season in the fifth. Kansas City used eight pitchers. David Sandlin threw six innings and gave up one run, and he was barely a footnote.
