Contreras hit a three-run homer in the first, and Caleb Durbin followed two batters later with a solo shot — four Boston runs before Washington recorded an out in the bottom of the frame. James Wood's home run left his bat at 113.6 mph and traveled 441 feet, but it was a solo shot in a game the Nationals lost by three. Ranger Suarez gave Boston six innings of three-run ball and struck out eight. Miles Mikolas absorbed the loss across seven complete: six earned, no walks, 97 pitches — and the first inning was already too much.
