Cade Cavalli threw 100 pitches — 73 strikes — struck out 13, and gave up one hit across seven innings, and when he left, the score was still 1-1. The Nationals finally broke through in the seventh on Keibert Ruiz's single and Luis García Jr.'s two-run double, then added four more in the eighth when Tommy Kahnle surrendered four hits and four runs. Cavalli never pitched with a lead. His lineup scored seven times after he was already in the dugout, which is both a reward and a small kind of waste.
