The game turned on an 82.6 mph changeup to Jackson Merrill in the seventh — 106.0 mph off the bat, 431 feet, and a 2-1 Brewers lead was gone. Logan Henderson had matched Casey Mize through six, seven strikeouts against six, and Ty France's solo shot in the second was the only run the Padres had mustered. Henderson left after 6.1 innings on 91 pitches having given up the lead, and took the loss. Mason Miller walked one and struck out one in the ninth, 19 pitches, and the game ended with William Contreras at the plate.
