Brett Baty drove a 0-0 slider to center with the bases loaded before Bryce Elder had recorded an out, and by the time the first inning ended the Mets led 5-2. Elder stayed in for five innings and 105 pitches, buying innings but never the game — the Braves scored twice more in the fourth and never got closer than three. Daniel Duarte gave the Mets two clean innings in relief of Christian Scott, and Kodai Senga closed it with two strikeouts on 18 pitches. Francisco Lindor's home run in the third left the bat at 107.7 mph and traveled 420 feet, and it was the Mets' last run until the ninth.
