Taylor Walls went deep into August before clearing a fence, and then did it twice: a two-run shot in the fourth and a solo in the sixth, Nos. 1 and 2 on the year. Carson Williams followed with his own first, a three-run homer in the eighth that turned a working margin into a laugher. Martinez scattered eight hits and struck out five, and the Athletics never put more than two across in an inning. Junior Caminero's 35th, a 412-foot shot to center in the first, was all the support Martinez needed before the lineup piled on.
