Elly De La Cruz put the first pitch of the game into center for his 24th home run, and the Reds did not score again until the eighth. Sheehan struck out ten in 5.2 innings and allowed three hits. Williamson walked five in 4.1 innings and gave up six runs, three earned, and the swing that decided it was Teoscar Hernández on a 1-0 changeup — 112.6 mph off the bat, three runs, left field. Burns struck out five in three clean innings before Williamson entered, and the game turned entirely on what came after him.
