Ben Rice hit a 1-2 splitter into the right-field seats in the first, and that was half the scoring. Austin Wells hit a first-pitch fastball out to right center in the third for the other run, and Cam Schmitter made both hold up — one hit in six innings, eight strikeouts. Christian Scott matched Schmitter for six innings — three hits, two runs, seven strikeouts — and took the loss. The Mets put five runners on base and none of them scored.
