Brent Suter opened with three innings of one-hit ball — three strikeouts, 43 pitches — and the lead Dominic Smith's two-run homer provided in the second never came loose. Smith's homer came on an 83.5 mph splitter, and Miami's two-run fourth was the closest the Marlins got. Drake Baldwin's two-run homer in the ninth, his 25th, capped the scoring.
